O Trilha é um peixe alongado, com focinho longo e um par de longos
barbilhões flexíveis no queixo. Apresenta o corpo avermelhado com
tonalidades esbranquiçadas e/ou amareladas, possui duas ou três manchas
escuras arredondadas ao longo de sua linha lateral e algumas estrias
azuladas na cabeça. Pode atingir 30 centímetros.
Encontram-se
em fundos arenosos e rochosos, áreas coralinas e áreas com vegetação.
São muito comuns ao longo das praias e preferem águas claras.
Formam
grupos, são ativos e chegam a abrir crateras de 30cm de diâmetro e 10cm
de profundidade em busca de alimento, com o auxílio dos barbilhões
tácteis.
Curiosos
e pacíficos, não temem o mergulhador, mas se afastam se pressentem
ameaças. A diferença entre machos e fêmeas está no comprimento dos
dentes, que nos machos são maiores.

The
Spotted Goatfish is an elongated fish with a long snout and a pair of
long flexible barbels on the chin. It has a distinctive pink cast,
silvery and/or yellowish on sides, two or three large blackish blotches
along its lateral line and some bluish streaks on the head. It can reach
30 centimeters.
It
is easy to find it in rocky and sandy bottoms, coral reef areas and
areas with vegetation. They are very common along the beaches and prefer
clear waters.
These
fishes form groups, are active and open craters with the assistance of
its tactile barbels that can reach 30cm in diameter and 10cm in deep in
their search for food.
Curious
and peaceful, do not fear the diver, but move away if they sense
threats. The difference between males and females is the length of the
teeth that are greater in males.
